Gene "Uncle G" Serina –
New York City (USA)
Gene
Serina began his career in music at the age of 13, during the age of Doo Wop,
first singing with a group in junior high school which included Eddie Rivera
(who would later create one of the first Record Pools, I.D.R.C. (International
Disco Record Center). Gene would later meet up with Ruben Mangual, his brother
Benji and Jocko on a street corner and this union became the start of what would
become "the Group". Ruben & Gene then partnered with Orvin Baptiste, Rick
Pettignano and George west and as The Vels they were signed to the Amy Record
label and released their first 45rpm single "Do the Walk" / "In Laws". The group
eventually changed it's name from the Vels to the Styles.

group changes and evolution click on the following link -
THE GROUPS
With the Disco era
exploding In the 70’s Gene took on the name “Mean Gene the Dancing Machine” ,
contacted his Junior High School friend Eddie Rivera, joined his I.D.R.C. Record
Pool and began DJ’ing at New York City clubs “Vasmay Lounge”, “Godfather II”,
“Latin Palace” and on radio station WHBI – FM. During late 80's and early 90's he kept
busy with recording sessions as a studio bassist.

Eddie Rivera

Disco Step-By-Step television, Pittsburgh)
Eddie Rivera
suggested he try getting into the promotion end of the industry and in the early
90’s he formed his current company – Serina Promotions, a company contracted by
record labels to promote new releases to Record Pools, Billboard Reporters,
College Radio, Radio Mix Shows, and to both domestic and International
commercial radio stations. These endeavors have produced several Gold & Platinum
awards (such as the 4 time Platinum
"Whoot There It Is" by
95 South
on the Ichiban Label. Serina Promotions is still promoting new dance, r&b, hip
hop and pop releases.

music industry professionals. Venture Music Group (VMG) is such an
independent record label, poised for the new frontiers and new
technologies that lie ahead. Two of the key VMG operatives already on
